1. Organising
Authority
1.1 The Organising Authority is Corus Sailing Club, Margam
(the Sailing Section of Corus Sports and Social Club, Margam) in conjunction
with the National Solo Class Association.
2. Rules
2.1
Racing will be
governed by the ‘rules’ defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, the National
Solo Class rules, and the Sailing Instructions; these change RRS 31.2 and 35.
2.2 This Notice of Race may be amended by a
Notice to Competitors from the Organising Authority. If there is any conflict with a Sailing
Instruction, the Sailing Instruction shall prevail.
3. Eligibility
3.1 Racing will be
in the National Solo Class and every competitor must be a member of the Class
Association.
4. Entries
4.1 Entries
should be submitted on the official entry form for this event along with the entry
fee of £10 as a cheque payable to BSSC.
Entry
forms will be available from the Club on the day.
5. Registration
5.1 Competitors
will register at the Clubhouse on 11 November from
6. Measurement
6.1 Each boat
must have a valid measurement certificate and buoyancy endorsement, and must
sail under the original sail number unless otherwise authorized by the race
officer.
7. Sailing
Instructions & Briefing
7.1
Sailing
instructions will be issued at registration.
7.2
There will be a competitors briefing at 11.30 on
Saturday outside the clubhouse.
7.3
Notices to competitors will be posted at the Race
Control hut.
8.
Racing Programme
Five races are
scheduled :
Race 1 Saturday 12.00. Races
2 and 3 to be announced.
Race 4 Sunday 10.30. Race
5 to be announced.
9.
Courses and Racing Areas
9.1
The racing
areas will be announced at the briefing. Courses will be described on the
courseboard at the race control hut.
10. Scoring
10.1
The event will
be scored using RRS Appendix A, except that each boat’s series score will be
the total of her race scores with her worst score excluded if 4 or more races
have been completed.
10.2
Two scored
races are required for the results to be considered a championship.
11. Coaches and Supporters
11.1
Only patrol
boats appointed by the principal race officer may:-
11.2 Communicate with competitors afloat
11.3 Enter the race area.
12. Rights to use names and likenesses
12.1
Competitors automatically grant to the Organising
Authority without payment the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any
motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television of or
relating to the event.
13. Disclaimer of Liability
13.1
Competitors are
entirely responsible for their own safety, whether afloat or ashore, and
nothing reduces this responsibility. It is for competitors to decide whether
their boat is fit to sail in the conditions in which it will find itself. By
launching competitors confirm the boat is fit for those conditions and that
they are competent to sail and compete in them. Nothing done by the organisers
can reduce the responsibility of the owners and/or competitors, nor will it
make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury,
however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the
racing. The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the event. The
provision of patrol boats does not relieve owners and competitors of their
responsibilities.
13.2 Each sailor under the age of 18 on 11 November will be required
to submit a consent form signed by a parent or guardian.
13.2
Safety
13.3
Adequate
personal buoyancy of an appropriate standard shall be worn by all competitors
whilst afloat. Wet suits and dry suits do not constitute personal buoyancy.
13.4 Insurance
Boats are
required to be adequately insured including insurance against third party
claims of at least £2,000,000.
