About Us

Corus Sailing Club is a well established club that has been in existence for over forty years.
The fresh water lake is situated just off the M4 close to Port Talbot, and is one of the largest fresh water lakes in South Wales. We offer a comprehensive sailing program covering 52 weeks of the year.

The club facilities consist of a large enclosed dingy compound capable of storing in excess of 100 boats.

 

A club house with dinning room and gallery providing hot beverages and food each lunchtime at minimal cost.

Both male and female changing rooms, with hot showers.

 

We also have ample space to laze and view the racing in comfort.

 

We run a comprehensive sailing program, comprising four series,
Spring Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Our summer and autumn series consist of Tuesday evening sail training and informal sailing, Wednesday evening, informal sailing and one race.
Saturday and Sunday we have two organized races and of course informal sailing.
As the nights draw in our winter program offers two races each Sunday.
We also organize races on both Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The sailing program caters for all classes of dingy with fleet starts currently Solo and Laser and a general handicap for all others with a PYR.

Our club hosts several special events throughout the year;
• Solo welsh open meeting
• International canoe open meeting
• Enterprise open meeting

Our October Regatta attracts some seventy six boats and is one of the largest two day regattas in South Wales.
The club membership is wide and varied from novice to world champion, from those with five minuets experience to those with fifty years.
We welcome all newcomers and offer a comprehensive sail training program, from novice to RYA level two.
Our qualified instructors offer a six week training program on either a Sunday morning or Tuesday evening, training in optimist, topper and laser single handers or enterprise two man dinghies
